Ferry FAQs

We will be taking over operations of the ferry route in July 2024.

Yes! We are currently building two new larger ferries which will increase vehicle capacity by 95%

Our new ferries will also see a big upgrade in the way you can pay for tickets and you will have the option to pay with EFTPOS, Credit Card and Cash. In future, you’ll also be able to prepurchase tickets on our website and create an account for frequent travel.

Residents will have their own unique identification card that will also be able to be credited for crossing payments.

No, but you can. Tickets will continue to be sold on the ferry.

Pre-purchased tickets indeed offer several advantages, particularly in terms of ease and speedy travel. Here are some benefits:

  • Pre-purchased tickets streamline the process, as travellers can simply present their tickets for scanning on the ferry without needing to spend time purchasing tickets on-location.
  • Knowing that tickets are already sorted out in advance can alleviate stress associated with last-minute arrangements and uncertainties, allowing travellers to focus more on enjoying their journey or experience.

Overall, pre-purchased tickets are an excellent way to enhance the travel experience by offering convenience, time savings, and peace of mind.

Yes! Cash will still be accepted.

The local resident entitlement is set by the Noosa Council.

You will be able to apply for your 2024/25 resident entitlement using our website. An option to apply in person will also be available before launch.

More details on the Resident Concession Cards can be found here

We do not set ticket prices; these are set by the Noosa Council as per the Local Government Regulation 2012. Noosa Council set the fees in its annual budget meeting. These fees will be visible on our website once we commence operations.

No, we are working closely with the current operator and council to ensure there is a continuous service up to and over the transition period. We are fortunate to have the support of the current operator who will continue operations until we take over, so there should be no interruptions to the service.

Travelling North from Noosa, head directly down Moorindil Street, Tewantin.

Travelling South from the Noosa North Shore Cooloola Recreation Area, you MUST exit the beach at third cutting, onto the wilderness track, following the road past the Noosa North Shore Beach Campground, and the Noosa North Shore Retreat, along Maximillion Road to the Ferry crossing. Don’t forget to only travel at low tide when transiting along the Cooloola Recreation Area, and stay off the dunes.

Permits for camping and/or driving within the Noosa North Shore Cooloola Recreation Area can be booked via the Queensland National Parks website here.

More information about the Cooloola region can be found at the DESI website here.

Please note: It is recommended that you book well in advance (at least six weeks) for the most popular camping spots, especially during peak periods like public and school holidays.

  • Sunday – Thursday 5:30 am till 10:20 pm
  • Friday & Saturdays 5.30am till 12:20am

For any request to operate outside of those hours please contact us.
